Der Metropolitain Art Club zeigt im Rahmen der #FloatingGallery >besiedlung 2, zwei Künstlerinnen, die sich 2012 bei der MAF, Metropolitain Art Fair in Wien kennengelernt haben. Nach ihrer ersten gemeinsamen Ausstellung in Berlin, eröffnet am 2. Oktober in Wien in der Galerie Benedict, Sonnenfelsgasse 13 im ersten Bezirk ihre Ausstellung >besiedlung 2 (Daher die 2, nicht, weil sie zu zweit die Welt besiedeln wollen.)
Im Gegenteil: >besiedlung 2 präsentiert Grenzüberschreitungen der Natur in menschliches Territorium: Fotografien von Tiller, die zeigen, wie schnell Pflanzen und Tiere in der Lage sind, sich das vom Menschen Geschaffene als Lebensraum zurückzuerobern; und Siebdrucke von Piotter, wo sich aus Stadtverfall und Naturrückkehr fiktive Geschichten entwickeln.

>besiedlung 2 zeigt die Auseinandersetzung mit der Entwicklung und Rekolonisierung [sur]realer Welten und stellt die Frage nach Verantwortung über die verlorene Funktion dieser Schauplätze. Wem gehören diese Orte? Wer hat mehr Berechtigung – Natur oder Mensch? Wer gewährt wem Asyl und wer gewinnt den Kampf auf Zugehörigkeit? (Auszug Text von Julia Hartmann, Kunsthistorikerin, 21er-Haus)

Galerie Bendict kindly reminds you that part of our collection is now on display at MOYA – Museum of Young Art – in Vienna. Tomorrow is the last day to see this exhibition and we strongly recommend you take advantage of the opportunity to see works from Amadou Sow, Joseph Eze and John Savalla in the context of this special Viennese location, which describes itself as the old Baroque house with young art.
MOYA resides in the historical building ‘Palais Schönborn’ in the first district (Rennagsse 4). Shadowed by its more famous ‘brother’, the Palais Schönborn in the eight district (today the Austrian Volkskundemuseum resides there), this very beautiful piece of architecture may not be getting the attention it deserves. Bought by count Friedrich Carl Schönborn and the bishop of Bamberg and Würzburg in 1740 from the widow of count Adam Batthyany, the building underwent restructuring under the directions of Schönborn count. The building is under the possession of the Schönborn family ever since. More recent in time, the building undertook many functions: embassies, bank and concert rooms were hosted in the palace; even the ex-Austrian canceler Franz Vranicky worked in the building at some point. Since 2010 the Palace is filled with young art under the direction of MOYA.
